I planned to teach myself to knit cables and start work on a particular hat, but then I was introduced to a Casapinka pattern Ripples Make Waves that was not only good looking but in support of Kiev. In lieu of payment for the pattern I made a donation to World Central Kitchen and spent two and a half days knitting my hat (while doing online meetings and watching recorded shows. One of the things I watched was Curse of the Chippendales which I enjoyed so much it surprised me. More than a few times I've read a really good story and upon the final word thought "That was so much fun I want to experience the story again." This was the first time I can recall reacting that way to a television program. Not that I could, since I delete each show I've watched after seeing it. I expect much of what I saw will be repeated when Secrets of the Chippendales Murders airs later this month on A&E and I'm looking forward to finding out.
Over the weekend I also began watching Secrets of Playboy, expecting it to be just as fun. Boy was I ever wrong. The stories of what happened to women inside the Playboy mansion are distressing. I made it through the first two episodes and decided this is a "must watch it during the afternoon" show as it is far too upsetting to watch in the evenings if I am to have any hope of sleeping well that night. Seeing as I can watch murder shows (as long as the crimes are solved) right before falling into bed, that's saying something.
Last night was the March Knitting Guild meeting and it was fun. This was supposed to be "make and take" thing but I noticed very few of the women participated in the making aspect. There supplies for four small knitting projects (one of which was an ice cream cozy) and supplies & materials to make your own shawl pin. I took a good look at that table and admired many of the pins made but was not enticed to make my own. It reminded me of my high school jewelry class so the techniques were not new to me and I just didn't want to devote amount of time it would take to make one. Four to six women hammering their metal into place made at the same time made one hell of a racket and I heard more than one woman remark that she should have removed her hearing aids.
No mom news this week. I called at some point and she was doing fine (if you discount her being pissed off at her daughter-in-law and her doctors for communicating with each other rather than with her directly).
Last night I heard a rumor that Russia may cut itself off the internet on Friday (March 11th). If you are using LiveJournal, I'd recommend backing up your LJ if you can (I couldn't, as LJ blocked connection to dreamwidth's servers a week or two ago) and migrating to another platform.
